This pair of apothecary furniture comes from Shanxi province in China.
Each of the units has 40 drawers, some of which are divided into several parts, making a total of 160 sections per unit. Each section was used for a specific plant or substance with its name handwritten on the label of the drawer. All labels are original.
Dating from the 17th century, these two pieces of furniture are perfectly preserved and have a magnificent patina left by the worn lacquer that you can see on the sides.
